Ready to take your SMEI Certification Examination?

You must have applied and paid for certification prior to registering for your examination.  If you have not applied, please apply first.  Register for the examination using the appropriate form below.  Please allow a minimum of 4 weeks beginning from the date you apply for your examination to the date you are requesting for your examination.

Examination Timing:

  1. Examinations must be taken within 365 days of application approval date.
  2. After 365 days, applicants must reapply and pay the full application fee.
  3. Applicants may apply to SMEI for one 6 month extension of the examination deadline providing they apply in writing and include the reason for the request.  A fee of Rs.4000 will be charged for any extension granted.  The application must be received 60 days in advance of the original 365 day deadline. 

Examination Facility:

The examination is taken online using a live Internet connection.  Please ensure that the examination location you setup with your proctor will offer you a quiet space with a computer and high-speed internet connection.  Dial-up access or wireless access is not acceptable.  The Internet connection must be hard-wired high-speed.  SMEI is not responsible for exam data lost due to connection, computer or other technical problems related to the examination facility.

Examination facilities are open from 10.00am  through 6.00pm on the set days.

Dates are subject to change with notice.  Special arrangements may be possible for groups of 5 or more – please direct requests by email

Examination Proctors:

Applicants are responsible for providing a suitable proctor to supervise their examination.  A suitable proctor would be an individual to whom the applicant is subordinate in an employer, employee relationship; an instructor or professor at a recognized post-secondary institution; an officer, director or executive director of an SMEI affiliate who is certified; an officer or director of the SMEI Board who is certified or such other person as authorized by the President of SMEI.

Examination Rescheduling:

If you have previously registered for your examination and you are unable to keep this commitment, please complete the Examination Rescheduling form.

There is a fee of Rs.2000 to cover the administrative costs associated with rescheduling.
